We hold the following stock and facilities:
In all libraries:
- induction loops at enquiry desks and counters to help hearing
aid users;
- information leaflet in large print;
- large print books;
- magnifier with light attachment for people with visual
impairment;
- specially adapted mouse for people with manual dexterity
problems;
- story cassettes.
In selected libraries and record offices:
- CCTV machines which magnify text. Use them for personal
letters, documents etc;
- large print computer keyboard for visually impaired
people;
- minicom text phone facility for people with hearing
impairment;
- trolleys with book carrying facilities for people
with mobility/manual dexterity impairment.
Sign language videos and CD-Roms in Suffolk
Libraries
We have sign language collections in Bury St Edmunds, County
Library Ipswich, and Lowestoft libraries. The collections will help
those learning sign languages at different levels.

Audio described films on DVD and CD
Audio description can help people with sight problems to fully
enjoy feature films. It is an additional narration that describes
all significant visual information. Suffolk libraries stock DVD
films with an Audio description feature and a collection of CDs
which are Audio described films without any visuals.
