Help your children to find non-fiction books independently
using our Library Clue-finder chart and subject index
SLS have produced three products to help both teachers and
children to organise and locate non-fiction books in their school
library:
School Library Subject Index for Primary Schools (A4
book format):
- A comprehensive alphabetical list of subjects, together
with their Dewey numbers and colour codes.
- Useful for teachers to use, both for classifying books and to
find books and for older KS2 pupils to use to locate
books.
All subscribing schools receive 1 copy of this new edition –
further copies are available at £3.75 each for subscribing schools
or £4.50 for non-subscribing schools.
"Library Clue-finder" Subject Index (A4 book
format)
A reduced version of the main Subject Index to make it easier for
children in Years 2,3 and 4 to use to find books for
themselves.
Again all subscribing schools will receive 1 copy free of charge -
further copies are available to purchase - why not order a class
set or helf-set?
- £1.50 each, £1.20 each for 10 copies or more (for subscribing
schools)
- £1.80 each, £1.45 each for 10 copies or more (for
non-subscribing schools)
“Clue-finder” wall chart (2xA3 laminated
wallcharts)
- Lists 32 of the most popular and commonly stocked non-fiction
subject areas in alphabetical order – see sample image below.
- Ideal for introducing the principle of a subject index to
younger children.
- A great visual reminder for older KS2 children.
