Help children to find new reading choices with our new range of author suggestion posters - these full colour, laminated posters each have a popular author, series or genre as a starting point, with suggestions of other, similar authors to read.

Available in sets of ten posters for KS2, and in sets of five posters for KS3.

Library Clue-finder chart and subject index 

Help your children to find non-fiction books independently using our Library Clue-finder chart and subject index.

SLS have produced three products to help both teachers and children to organise and locate non-fiction books in their school library:

Front Cover for School Library Subject Index for Primary Schools

School Library Subject Index for Primary Schools (PDF, 220Kb)

  • A4 book format
  • A comprehensive alphabetical list of subjects, together with their Dewey numbers and colour codes.
  • Useful for teachers to use, both for classifying books and to find books and for older KS2 pupils to use to locate books.

All subscribing schools receive 1 copy of this new edition – further copies are available at £3.75 each for subscribing schools or £4.50 for non-subscribing schools.



Library Clue-Finder front page

A reduced version of the main Subject Index to make it easier for children in Years 2,3 and 4 to use to find books for themselves.

We have produced a revised and update version of our alphabetical subject index for use in high and middle school libraries. Many new subjects have been included, and the Dewey classifications have been fully updated to the 22nd edition of DDC.
