Team Read 2008

 

Launch of Team Read After a rainy start on Saturday 5 July, the sun shone in the afternoon for the 375+ people who came along to this year's special Team Read launch on Ipswich Town Football Club's Portman Road practice pitch.
	185 books were borrowed from the mobile libraries and 40 new people joined Suffolk libraries between 2-4pm. In addition 137 children registered to take part in this year's reading game, Team Read.
County Councillor Graham Newman launched the event assisted by former ITFC player Fabian Wilnis and this year's Book Mastermind Champion Robin Bendix-Hickman.
Families were entertained by SGR FMs Black Thunder, a Chinese stiltwalker and fan/ribbon dancer, a clown and a diabolo expert
There were football activities arranged by Ipswich Town Football Club and a chance to meet their mascots Bluey and Crazee. Youngsters also enjoyed meeting favourite book characters the Gruffalo and Cat in the Hat. Face painting was also popular and raised over £40 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Team Read Launch in Felixstowe Library, Sunday 20 July

There was lots of fun with everyone dressed in their football/rugby team shirts - adults and children!  Local councillors Graham Newman and John Goodwin welcomed everyone.

The Team Read will be happening in all Suffolk libraries and mobiles during the summer holidays, on Sundays too.

All you have to do is read 6 books.

Just come along and register and take out your first books.
