Suffolk celebrated National Bookstart Day 2008 on 10
October
Ahoy there shipmates! Everyone's a Jolly Roger as pirate rhyme time
came to Suffolk. Suffolk was overrun by pirates as pirate
rhyme time events took place for local children to celebrate
National Bookstart Day!
Where: Il Punto floating restaurant, Neptune Quay,
Ipswich Marina, 10.00am - 10.30am
What: Toddlers and adults were in pirate fancy
dress for the Pirate Rhyme Time event for very young children from
Quayside Children's Centre and
Stoke Library.
Where: Southwold Pier, at the Mermaids and Pirate
shop, 10.30am - 11.30am
What: More fancy dress fun at the Pirate Rhyme
Time event held on Southwold Pier for very young children from the
Reydon Children's Centre/nursery and
Southwold Library.
Speaking about the events, portfolio holder for adult and community
services, Councillor Graham Newman said:
"These events are
always an absolute "treasure" - an enjoyable morning out for
parents and carers, as well as great fun for children. If you can't
"full steam ahead" to Ipswich Marina or Southwold Pier, you're
bound to find some "booty" at your local library some time this
week, particularly those putting on special Bookstart activities on
Friday."
The following libraries hold their Bookstart activity regularly on
a Friday so celebrated National Bookstart Day on 10 October
with pirate themed stories and activities:

All Suffolk Libraries have at least
one free Bookstart session for babies and pre school children
with their parents and carers. During the week of 6-10
October, they all had a pirate theme. Check out our
Bookstart activities to find details of the
activities at your local library.
