With knobbly knees and turned-out toes children's favourite the Gruffalo visited children at the Bookstart session at Rosehill Library on Friday 4 July.

Dr Luke Dixon

Theatre director Dr Luke Dixon gave a free workshop on Shakespeare's Sonnets at Bury St Edmunds Library on Friday 4 July to a group of A level students.

Summer Reading Challenge 2008 - The Team Read

The annual reading challenge for children during the school holidays runs through to beginning of September.

On Saturday 5 July, the Team Read in Suffolk was launched at Ipswich Town Football Club on the training pitch at Portman Road.

Jane Ray

Children's author  Jane Ray visited Suffolk on Tuesday 8 July at the following venues:

Kipper helped celebrate reopening

On Thursday 10 July, Kipper and Percy the Park Keeper visited Chantry Library to celebrate the reopening of the library after a major refurbishment project.

They were with the preschool children during the Bookstart sessions.


Indian Summer Mela 2008

This year's Mela was held on Sunday 13 July at Christchurch Park in Ipswich. There was lots of fun with music and dancing and one of Suffolk Libraries mobile libraries was there too.

Latitude FestivalLatitude 2008 logo

For the third year Suffolk Libraries attended the Latitude festival in Lowestoft to help children have even more fun at this fun event.

Felixstowe Library - Local Team Read launch

On Sunday 20 July we held the Felixstowe library local Team Read launch.  There was lots of fun with everyone dressed in their football/rugby team shirts - adults and children!  Local councillors Graham Newman and John Goodwin welcomed everyone. 

We had a Team Read Bookstart activity, exercises led by a local fitness trainer and finally everyone joined in the dancing!  For photos and more see our Felixstowe Activities and Events page.
