Biography

David Bedford was born in Devon, in the south-west of England, in 1969.

After school, David went to university and became a scientist. His first job was as a NATO Scholar scientist in America, where he worked on discovering new antibiotics.

David has always loved to read and decided to start writing stories himself. After a while, he left his science job and began writing full time. He has now had over 15 books published, which have been translated into many languages around the world.

He is well known for his picture books, including It’s My Turn! (illustrated by Elaine Field), Big Bears Can! (illustrated by Gaby Hansen), and Big Bear, Little Bear (illustrated by Jane Chapman). His most recent books with Little Hare are Time for Bed, Isobel and Who's Laughing? (both illustrated by Leonie Worthington).

David has also created a series of junior novels, called The Team, about a football/soccer team that doesn’t always win! Titles include: The Soccer Machine/The Football Machine, Top of the League, Soccer Camp, Superteam and Banned!

David lives with his wife and two children in Norfolk, England.
