2011 Indian Summer Mela, Sunday 10 July
The
Ipswich and Suffolk
Indian Association helds its ninth Indian Summer Mela, a
rich and colourful celebration of South Asian culture. People from
different parts of Suffolk came to Christchurch Park, Ipswich to
enjoy the free event which included a variety of performances,
activities and displays.
For the first time 'Incredible India'- a separate cultural marquee
was set up to give people insight of some Indian traditions and art
forms. Suffolk Libraries along with
CSV helped Ipswich and Suffolk
Indian Association set up displays and audio visual screenings
about classical dance styles, tribal paintings of India, Indian
outfits, holiday destinations, traditional perfumes and art forms
like rangoli and henna.
