Suffolk libraries were at the 2008 Indian Summer Mela on one of the county council's new satellite equipped mobile libraries.

208 people visited the mobile library to have a look and asked a variety of questions and used the internet on board: lots of books were borrowed and seven people joined the library. There was a lot of interest in the wide selection of books from the Indic language collection for children and adults.

Nine children registered to take part in Team Read, this year's reading game. Mike Inkpen’s much loved character Kipper made four or five appearances and delighted the children.

Once again the henna hand painting of mehendi designs was very popular. This was free although people were asked to donate to charity: thank you to everyone who helped us raise £81 for Macmillan Cancer Support, the chosen charity of this year's Suffolk County Council Chairman.
