Living in Suffolk

UCS Ipswich, Newmarket Races, Port of Felixstowe

Suffolk is an outstandingly beautiful county.  There is a thriving arts scene and lots of places to visit for example, Jimmy’s Farm, the RSPB reserve at Minsmere and the ancient woollen towns of Lavenham, Southwold and Bury St Edmunds.  Flatford Mill nestles in the Stour Valley where John Constable painted The Haywain, Gainsborough’s House is in Sudbury and the beach at Aldeburgh is adorned with a much-discussed Scallop sculpture in celebration of the work of composer Benjamin Britten who was born and grew up in Lowestoft.

As well as a thriving local agricultural industry, several international organisations are based in Suffolk for example, BT at Martlesham, Felixstowe Port, Newmarket Race Course and Snape Maltings Concert Hall.

Suffolk has also become the newest county with a university campus in the county town of Ipswich.
