Inclusive Workplace

InclusiveWorkplace

We believe equality and diversity is important.  Managing, developing and working a diverse workforce helps promote inclusiveness, prevents discrimination and contributes to increased staff retention and productivity.  It also helps us to shape our services for the needs of a diverse range of customers and improve relations with the surrounding communities.

We are in the top 100 employers for equality (Stonewall Workplace Equality Index) and are working to achieve ‘excellent’ status on the IDeA’s equality framework.  We have signed up to the national ‘two ticks’ scheme which reflects our commitment to recruiting and retaining disabled staff. We have also scored ‘silver’ (Opportunity Now benchmarking) in terms of work towards gender equality.  Our harassment and bullying scheme has been recognised nationally as an example of best practice by ACAS (Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service) and the CIPD (Chartered Institute for Personnel Development).

We are committed to offering the best possible support to our staff. There are a number of groups and resources that provide support and information and we have staff networks relating to:

  • women,
  • black and minority ethnic groups,
  • disabled people,
  • family carers,
  • lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered people
  • Christian fellowship.
