Work trials are suitable if you have
been claiming benefits for up to 6 months. You will work
for one week initially undertaking a 12 week temporary
assignment for a minimum of 16 hours per week. Your
benefits will continue to be paid for this week and
if you are well-suited to the assignment, you will continue to
be paid whilst at work for the remainder of your
assignment. The main advantages are you will receive a
wage or continued benefits, plus have your expenses
reimbursed. You will also have the opportunity of joining a
temporary workers register for placements within Suffolk
County Council at the end of your trial period, as well as
being well-placed to apply for any permanent posts available,
both at the council and with other employers.
