Q. Where can I take my household waste for recycling or
disposal?
There are several places you can take your waste, these are:

Household Waste Recycling Centres;
- landfill site (for items which can not be reused, composted or
recycled);
- Your local 'bring' site or recycling bank; and
- waste transfer station.
Q. What is a landfill site?
A landfill site is an
area of land used for the burial of waste under control
conditions.
There are currently 3 main landfill sites in Suffolk:
- Foxhall Landfill, Ipswich. 01473 624199;

- Wangford Landfill, Wangford. 01502 578506.
Q. What is a waste transfer station?
A facility where waste from collection vehicles (bringing waste
and recycling from your kerbside bins) is combined into loads that
are transported by larger trucks or other means to more distant
final disposal facilities such as landfills.
Q. What is a 'bring' site or recycling bank?
It is a container or series of containers provided by your local
district or borough council for you to recycle specific waste
materials (e.g. paper and glass). They are often found near village
halls, schools, pubs, local car parks etc.

Q. What is 'Household Waste'?
Household waste is waste from households, these include:
- bulky waste collection;
- hazardous household waste collection;
- household clinical waste collection;
- litter collections;
- separate garden waste collection;
- waste from household collection;
- waste from Household Waste Recycling Centres;
- waste from services such as street sweeping; and
- wastes separately collected for recycling or composting through
bring/drop off schemes and kerbside schemes.
