Waste Core Strategy Issues and Options
The Waste Core Strategy Issues and Options document is the second
stage in the process leading to the development of a Waste Core
Strategy Development Plan Document. Once adopted it will form
part of a suite of documents that make up the Suffolk Minerals and
Waste Development Framework. The Waste Core Strategy Issues
and Options document puts forward a number of policy options for
planning waste development within the County for the next 10 to 15
years.
A further Issues and Options document will be published later in
the year that will identify potential strategic sites for residual
waste treatment facilities and potentially also for non hazardous
landfill.
A Sustainability Appraisal of the Waste Core Strategy Issues and
Options document has been undertaken and is also available on
line.

N.B. The current Waste Core Strategy and Waste Specific
Site timetables are under review. It is currently not our intention
to prepare a separate Site Allocation DPD as we intend to include
site for strategic waste management facilities in the Waste
Core Strategy. The existing timetable for the Core Strategy and
Specific Site Allocations DPDs will be combined to allow a final
consultation document on the Waste Core Strategy to be published in
June 2009. Submission to the Secretary of State will be made
in December 2009 with an examination in public being held late
Spring 2010.
It is considered that the Inspector's report would be available in
October/November 2010 allowing adoption at the end of 2010. This
end date is consistent with the existing Waste Specific
Site Allocation.
