The Waste Local Plan is a statutory plan
that addresses the land-use aspects of waste management. It is
prepared by Suffolk County Council as the Waste Planning Authority
and deals with all waste managed in its area, including waste
generated by businesses and the construction industry as well as
waste produced by households.
The Waste Local Plan will, until it is replaced
by the Waste Development Framework documents, provide a
comprehensive framework for planning for waste management in
Suffolk and it will set out policies and proposals for determining
planning applications for waste development in Suffolk. The
plan seeks to balance the need to establish waste management
facilities with the need to protect the environment.
The Plan was formally adopted on 20 February 2006.

The Joint Municipal Waste Management
Strategy
A joint Municipal Waste Management Strategy for
Suffolk has been adopted by all Suffolk's local authorities. This
is concerned only with municipal waste, mainly waste from
households that the local authorities have a responsibility to
manage, but is an important consideration for the Waste Local Plan.
It was formally launched in Lowestoft on 17 October 2003.
