Environmental Management System

Suffolk County Council maintains an environmental management system (EMS) to continually improve the Council's environmental performance and reduce its impact on the environment. The EMS covers all of Suffolk County Council's activities from libraries to fire stations, social care functions and support services to schools, and enables us to:
  • comply with environmental legislation;
  • continuously improve our environmental performance;
  • develop an environmental action plan;
  • encourage everyone to 'do their bit'
  • identify our environmental impacts;
  • increase environmental awareness;
  • monitor progress towards meeting environmental targets.

Suffolk County Council has also signed the Nottingham Declaration on Climate Change.
