Consultation on the draft Suffolk Climate Action Plan
The Suffolk Climate Change Partnership (CRed Suffolk) launched a
consultation on the draft
Suffolk climate action plan at the Creating
the Greenest County Conference in October 2007. This
consultation gave everyone the opportunity to contribute to
the plan which sets out how Suffolk will respond to the issues
of climate change. The consultation closed in March
2008.
The Community Carbon Reduction Scheme, CRed, was launched by the
Government’s chief scientist Sir David King. The CRed scheme, aims
to reduce the amount of CO2 emissions generated per person from
five hot air balloons worth of CO2 a year to two. This would equate
to a 60 per cent reduction of CO2 emissions by 2025 and
is being called the 60 per cent Challenge.
CRed has been taken up in Suffolk (CRed Suffolk). Suffolk County
Council is one of the partners and aims to help co-ordinate a range
of carbon reduction activities across the county.
CRed Suffolk published a report in February 2007 on carbon
footprinting for Suffolk. You can read this report by clicking on
