Landguard Local Nature Reserve

440 species of wildflower and grasses, including the nationally very rare Stinking Goosefoot, grow on Landguard Common - a sand and shingle spit near Felixstowe port.

Little Terns and Ringed Plovers nest on the bare shingle with their eggs artfully camouflaged. The view from Landguard Fort, at the southern tip of the spit, is well worth the walk.

Landguard Nature Reserve is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, a Local nature Reserve and part of a Scheduled Ancient Monument and is managed by Suffolk Wildlife Trust, for the landowners, including Suffolk County Council.
