Countryside - visitor centres


Providing information centres at country parks and other sites.



There are visitor centres at Brandon Country Park and Clare Castle Country Park.  

There is also a visitor centre at Barham Picnic site - the gateway to the Gipping Valley area between Ipswich and Stowmarket.


Details about our visitor centres

Bawdsey Quay has a small, unmanned information centre that is open on weekends during the summer

Information available includes historical information about Bawdsey and the radar story, and details of the Suffolk coast and heaths area of natural beauty.

Clare Country Park has an unmanned visitor centre with a new display detailing the railway history, leaflets and toilets available.

The railway waiting rooms also have some heritage information that is regularly opened to the public.

Barham Picnic Site has an unmanned visitor centre that is open daily. Events and walk leaflets, toilets and an display about the Gipping Valley project are on site

Brandon Country Park is open daily. The site has educational activities, leaflets, interactive games to teach about the history and wildlife of the park, refreshments, a shop and toilets.

Knettishall Heath Country Park has information leaflets and toilets for public use.
