Introduction
This walk is situated approximately 5 miles east of Newmarket
and encompasses the picturesque villages of Gazeley, Dalham and
Moulton. It has been developed on public rights of way crossing
various types of terrain and although it can be easily walked,
waterproof footwear is recommended. As the title suggests, the walk
passes the three village churches, each of which houses some
unusual structural features and distinctive carvings.
Green footpath signs and yellow way mark arrows displaying a
circular walk symbol have been used to mark the route, which is
approximately 6.5 miles long. The walk can be shortened in places
by following the alternative routes shown on the map.
Icknield Way
Between All Saints Church Gazeley and Catford Bridge, this walk
follows part of The Icknield Way, a long distance path from
Knettishall Heath Country Park to Ivinghoe Beacon in
Buckinghamshire.
How to get there
The suggested starting point is All Saints Church, Gazeley, but
the walk could just as easily be joined at Dalham or Moulton.
