WHAT’S NEW?

Improvements at Brandon Country Park.

Thanks to funding of £535,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Suffolk County Council and Forest Heath District Council the doors of a new Visitor Centre and Tearoom were opened on 26th June 2006.

We hope you like the improvements which include a new interpretation area (showing the history and wildlife of the park), welcoming reception, sales area, Tourist Information Point and Copper Beech Tearoom.

Special offers in the Copper Beech Tearoom include a parent and toddler menu every Mondays and a 15% discount for the over 60’s on Thursdays. Birthday parties, including an activity hour can be booked for Saturday mornings or weekdays during school holidays. Please contact Wendy Baker, Visitor Centre Co-ordinator on 01842 810185 or at Wendy.Baker@et.suffolkcc.gov.uk to discuss your requirements.

The development of the centre is only part of the story. We now have a part time Heritage Education Officer and restoration work on the Mausoleum and the Walled Garden has been completed, all funded by the Heritage Lottery Grant.

Further Improvements!

A new children’s play area with a range of play equipment designed to provide enjoyable activities for a wide range of ages and levels of mobility and includes a wheelchair swing and a wide slide. This additional improvement was jointly funded by Forest Heath District Council and Suffolk County Council.

New Sculpture for the Brecks Erected in Park!

Thanks to the Brecks Tourism Partnership (a consortium of local businesses) for commissioning  international artist, Keith Rand, to create a sculpture using local materials. The sculpture is the culmination of a series of projects developed by the Brecks Tourism Partnership to promote sustainable tourism in the area.
