Archaeological Conservation Team

Giving advice about the conservation of Suffolk's historic environment.

The Conservation Team provides advice to the District Councils about the appropriate protection for the historic environment in the context of planning and development.

We advise prospective developers about the archaeological implications of development proposals. We specify the range of work required under an archaeological planning condition and monitor the results.

Advice is also provided to other government and statutory bodies about both minimising damage and the positive management of the historic landscape.
