School Organisation Review
We are continuing to work hard to raise standards of education
across the county, through the school organisation review
(SOR). We have agreed to move to the second phase of the
review, which is focused on developing specific proposals for
individual schools.
Twelve weeks of public consultation relating to options for the
future of schools in the Beccles, Bungay and Halesworth, Leiston
and Saxmundham, Mildenhall and Brandon and Newmarket began on 22
September 2008.

Building Schools for the Future

Development of specialist education provision in south
Suffolk
Earlier this year we agreed that further work should be done to
investigate how to extend provision for children and young people
with special educational needs (SEN) and disabilities. We are
currently looking at proposals for special schools and satellite
support centres in south Suffolk, and proposals to develop new
provision across the county for children and young people who
have:
- Severe dyslexia (specific learning difficulties)
- High level autism
- Significant social, emotional and behavioural
difficulties.
