Support for children with physical disabilities

This page gives a summary of the services available for children with physical disabilities through the Thomas Wolsey Outreach Service.

  • Thomas Wolsey School, Ipswich, is a county provision for children aged 3 to 19 with complex physical disabilities.
  • The outreach service aims to:
  • Support the transition and full time placement of Thomas Wolsey pupils into mainstream schools
  • Assist schools to include pupils with physical / medical / sensory disabilities into mainstream education.
  • Visits from mainstream staff are welcomed to observe lessons, discuss planning, differentiation and targets for IEPs.

What the service provides:

  • Training in manual handling and risk assessment;
  • Advice on curriculum access;
  • ICT advice and assessments;
  • Support for dual placements.
