County service for children requiring alternative methods for
communication.
This page gives an overview of the services offered by the
Suffolk Communication Aids Resource Centre.
- This is a county service for the assessment and support of
communication aids. The service is managed by Central Suffolk
Primary Care Trust (PCT) in partnership with Suffolk County
Council.
- The service is run by a specialist speech and language
therapist who provides assessment, advice and guidance for children
and young people who need to use alternative methods of
communication. These might be low-tech options such as symbol books
or more specialised, high-tech pieces of equipment, for children
with more complex communication needs.
- Equipment is available for loan and some individual items may
be purchased from the Communication Aids budget.
