The Suffolk Teachers' Artefacts and
Resources (STAR) Collection is the new name for the former
Advisory Service collections, which were previously held at
the three Professional Development Centres.
This collection is now being managed by Schools Library Service.
The items are located at our Centre in Ipswich, but items can be
ordered from any of our centres.
We are currently working on cataloguing and photographing the items
in the collection, to make them more accessible to teachers around
the county.
You can see photographs of some of the items in the collection
here.
In the meantime, teachers are welcome to visit our
Ipswich centre to look at the resources, or telephone your
local centre with some information on the type of resources you
are looking for (e.g. Sikhism, World War 2) and we will arrange for
items to be delivered to your nearest centre.
The collection contains a range of artefacts, books and other
resources to support teachers with classroom work. Many of the
items are particularly useful in supporting multicultural work in
schools.
Schools need to opt-in to this collection as part of their Schools
Library Service subscription, at a small extra charge. If you are
not sure whether your school has done this, or to enquire
about subscribing, please contact your local
centre.
