About the Schools Library Service

Providing advice and support to schools on library and resource provision and promotion.



Suffolk Schools Library Service aims to:
  • loan to schools a range of carefully chosen books and other materials to enhance schools' own resources;
  • advise headteachers and teaching staff on library provision, resources and staffing;
  • advise schools on electronic sources of information;
  • encourage schools to exploit and develop their library, classroom and ICT resources to support learning;
  • provide advice, training and mentoring to staff in school libraries;
  • promote literacy and the enjoyment of reading at all levels;
  • support school improvement;
  • support schools in their work to develop independent learners.
