There are 355 schools in
Suffolk:

- 40 middle schools
- 38 upper/high schools
- 9 special schools
- 13 Pupil Referral Units and
- 1 nursery school.
Suffolk's maintained mainstream schools are all
co-educational and comprehensive.
There are currently more than 100 primary schools
with attached nurseries and there is a policy of regular expansion
in this field.
The total school population is just under
100,000.
