There are 355 schools in

- 40 middle schools
- 38 upper/high schools
- 9 special schools
- 13 Pupil Referral Units and
- 1 nursery school.
Suffolk's maintained mainstream schools are all
co-educational and comprehensive.
There are currently more than 100 primary schools
with attached nurseries and there is a policy of regular expansion
in this field.
The total school population is just under
100,000.
The education service is administered from
Endeavour House in Ipswich and from three administrative areas
as shown on the map below:
