If you’re aged between 5 and 14, the Suffolk Children’s UniversityTM (SCU) gives you the opportunity to take part in a wide range of different activities outside normal school hours. If you sign up to an SCU-led activity, you can be sure it’s safe and will develop your knowledge and skills in a number of areas.

What activities are on offer?

SCU activities have been broken down into 6 categories with different symbol to give you a good idea as to what type of activity you’re taking part in:

SCU activities on offer
Activity type Activity description
logo for active activity Active:These will mostly be sporting activities such as football, tennis and basketball. Outdoor adventure activities and orienteering clubs will also be classed as ‘Active’ activities.
logo for academic activity Academic : These activities build on the work you do in school. You could impove your maths, computing and science skills or learn to speak another language.
logo for creative activity Creative : Arts activities are the focus of this 'creative' category. If you’re a budding artist, you may wish to join a dance or arts and crafts club, learn how to act or play an instrument.
logo for culture activity Culture: What was your town or village like 25,50,75 or 100 years ago? Maybe you would enjoy reenactments of days gone by? If this sort of thing interests you, then there may be a local history club you can participate in.
logo for nature activity Nature: If you enjoy exploring the environment, then you may wish to take part in 'Nature' SCU activities. These activities may involve gardening or birdwatching.
logo for service activity Service : Do you enjoy helping people whilst learning new skills along the way? If you take part in a first aid course, for example, then it may be credited through the SCU passport.

If you’re thinking of getting involved, you can see what other people have said about SCU activities, or sign up for a SCU Passport here. We will update this site regularly with new, official SCU courses and activities. Keep coming back to see what’s taking place in your area!
