Applying online for a school place in the normal entry year 2009-2010

Please read these important notes before making your online application at the bottom of the page.

Suffolk County Council's website has lots of useful information about applying for a school place in the school year starting September 2009.  We recommend that you read this information before making your online application, as it contains details about how we offer places and what our admissions oversubscription criteria are, as well as statistical information about schools in Suffolk.  All this information can also be found in the booklets:-

'Schools in Suffolk - Your guide to primary, junior and middle school admissions for 2009-2010' (PDF 2355kb)
and
'Schools in Suffolk - Your guide to upper/high school admissions for 2009-2010 (PDF 3832kb)

You may also wish to look at DCSF EduBase for details of all schools in England and Wales and the Ofsted website for school inspection reports.

Who can use the online application?

Parent/carers wishing to apply for a place for their child in the NORMAL ENTRY YEAR of a school can use the online facility.  For applications outside the normal admissions round please refer to our main admissions page.

Primary, Junior and Middle school applications - Parents/carers, regardless of where they live can apply for a Suffolk school using this facility.  If you want to apply for a place at an Infant, Primary or Middle school outside Suffolk, you should make an online application to the council responsible for schools in that area by that council's closing date.

Upper and High school applications - Parents/carers with children who are 'ordinarily resident' in, or moving to Suffolk, should use this facility to apply both for schools in Suffolk and schools located outside Suffolk.  If you do not live in Suffolk and wish to apply for a Suffolk school, please apply through your home council.  All councils liaise with each other regarding upper/high school applications under the co-ordinated scheme.

Notes to help you complete the online application

You may have received a unique identifier (UID) for your child in a letter sent via your child's current school.

If you have a UID, please use it.  It will save you time.  By using the UID much of your child's personal information will already be completed for you.

Don't worry if you do not have a UID.  Just click on the No UID? box to continue.

If you require information on schools please contact your local area admissions team.  Contact details.

Once you have submitted your online application you will receive an e-mail confirmation by return.

You may submit, or make changes to, applications up to the published closing dates.

However, any changes made may result in the application becoming unsubmitted (even if you decide you do not want to save your changes).  Please ensure that you click on the 'RESUBMIT' button so that the applications remains submitted.  You will receive an email confirmation every time you submit or resubmit an application.

Please refer to our Guidance Notes (PDF 691kb) for more information.

The outcome of your application will be emailed to you (if you have asked to receive notification by email) and your offer of a school place will be sent to you by first class post on the offer dates above.
