Thorpe Woodlands Adventure Centre is a purpose built residential outdoor education facility located in a beautiful part of Thetford Forest. The 37-bed, fully accessible centre is ideally situated for a wide range of land and water based outdoor activities. The centre is owned and run by Suffolk County Council’s Youth Support Service primarily to provide outdoor education opportunities.

The Thorpe Woodlands site also offers excellent camping facilities for up to 100 people and provides an attractive setting for groups to experience the natural environment with good access to navigable rivers, long distance footpaths and cycle trails.

A new purpose-built residential centre opened to visitors in 2009. The centre is fully accessible and has 37-beds spread between 9 bedrooms. The centre also offers a fully equiped commercial kitchen and large dining area, as well as a drying room, lounge, large shower and toilet block with separate accessible bathroom. Thorpe Woodlands has excellent camping facilities for over 100 people split between 4 separate, secluded glades. There is a large shower and toilet block, water/refuse points for each glade and outdoor sinks for washing up.


Activities

The activities offered at the Thorpe Woodlands Adventure Centre are designed to promote young people's personal and social development in a safe, fun and challenging setting and can be delivered on either a residential or non-residential basis, throughout the year. Visiting groups can choose from a variety of activity packages ranging from a halfday single activity session to a full 5-day Forest Challenge Programme. Our activity programmes are flexible and can be adapted to meet the varying needs and abilities of each group to ensure maximum participation and achievement:
