Childcare sufficiency information
The Childcare Act 2006 places new statutory (legal) duties on local authorities in England to carry out an “assessment of sufficiency” for childcare services. The purpose of this assessment was to establish where gaps could be found in the childcare provision for parents who are working or making the transition to work.
In May 2007 Suffolk County Council defined its requirements to access the sufficiency of the current childcare market for parents in the county.
Questionnaires and focus groups were held throughout the county to outline adjustments needed to childcare.
The results of the assessment is now helping to develop and sustain acurate childcare information to families in Suffolk.
