CWDC have completed the review of the qualifications held on the
early years and playwork qualifications database and have developed
a new qualifications list for those delivering the Early Years
Foundation Stage. The new qualifications list is now available
and only qualifications on the new list will be valid for people
working with children in the EYFS.

All settings have now completed a qualifications audit of all
staff to identify if their qualifications are ‘full and
relevant’.
Any staff who need to update their qualification have until 2012
to do so.
The Training Unit are using the returned audits to identify and
plan training needs.
The qualifications list will be used by Ofsted inspectors, Local
Authorities, employers and practitioners.

Early Years Workforce Qualifications Audit Tool
It is now a requirement of being in the directory of providers
to complete an online audit of the staff in your setting. In
the past you will have had to complete a paper version and checked
details that we hold at the training unit on an annual basis.
The Early
Years Workforce Qualifications Audit Tool will allow early
years registered settings to record and store information about
staff. It is an easy way to record the qualifications that staff
hold or are working towards and their additional training
achievements. You can use the data collected from the training and
qualifications audit and build up a complete on line training
plan.
The audit tool will enable early years settings to:
- Have an electronic record of staff details and
qualifications.
- Manage records when it is convenient.
- Check staff qualifications to meet the minimum qualification
requirements in the Statutory Framework from the Early Years
Foundation Stage (EYFS)
- Plan appropriate training and development of settings'
staff.
The audit tool will enable local authorities to:
- Target support for your setting.
- Budget and plan for local training and development.
- Reduce the burden of auditing settings annually.
