Important Changes coming into effect from September 2009
The CWDC has published a list of qualifications that are
acceptable for people working in the Early Years Foundation Stage
(EYFS). It details the requirements of each qualification, and its
suitability for various job roles in the EYFS.
The new list will be used alongside the CWDC qualification
framework until September 2009. From September 2009, only
qualifications on the new list will be valid for people working
with children in the EYFS.
It will also be used by Ofsted inspectors, Local Authorities,
employers and practitioners.
CWDC will send you more information about the new qualifications by
the end of the year. It is important that you share this
list with your managers and all those with employer
responsibilities, voluntary committee members and childcare
business owners.
You will need to carry out a training and qualifications
audit of all the staff in your setting.
Please note that once you have searched for your qualification
on the
CWDC
website, you need to click on the qualification title. This
will take you to a page that states if the qualification meets all
the mandatory criteria and if there is any additional training
recommended. You will need this information to complete the
audit.
In order to support you we have arranged to hold information
sessions across the county. Details of these can be found
here or by following the link below. There is no cost involved
and the sessions will last approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. There
will be Training Officers and Training Mentors for you to talk to
should you require any help.
In addition, we have provided a list of
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) and you can also contact a
Training Officer if you need further advice.
