What
is an EYP?
EYP's work in nurseries and children's centres
and as home based child carers. They are central to helping
children develop from birth until the age of five, a crucial time
in a child's life.
Who can become an EYP?
Training to become an Early Years Professional is
open to candidates with different backgrounds and qualifications.
In order to achieve EYPS you will have a degree qualification and
GCSE's in English and Mathematics at grade C or above (or
equivalent).
What if I do not have GCSE's in Maths or English at Grade C or
above?
Most training providers offer GCSE equivalence
tests and additional support with maths which means that you can
still gain EYPS. For further information, discuss with your chosen
training provider.
How do I gain EYPS if I do not currently work with
children?
There is a full time training pathway of one year
to gain EYPS for people who do not currently work in a relevant
early years foundation stage (EYFS) setting. You need to have
gained a degree to access the full time pathway.
How do I achieve EYPS whilst working?
There are a number of part time training pathways
available for practioners working in private, voluntary or
independent EYFS settings. You need to have gained a degree in any
discipline or a foundation degree in a related subject to access a
part time pathway.
Part time pathways to gain EYPS vary in length
from 6 to 15 months according to your qualifications and
experience.
