The Suffolk bye-laws say:
Children under the age of 13 are not allowed to work.
Every young person who works must have a work permit (even if
you are receiving a lesson/ride in lieu of payment).
A young person aged 13 and above may be employed in a riding
stable subject to the days and hours below:

Advice:
- Check on safety procedures in the stables.
- Check that you are properly trained.
- Don't be tempted to work extra hours.
- Don't be afraid to say NO if a job is unsafe.
- Check allergies if you develop any (they may be related to your
work environment).
Notes:
Make sure your employer has completed a risk assessment.
A work permit may be withdrawn or amended at any time by
the Director of Education if it is established that the employment
is affecting your education.
Remember, you cannot work without a work permit.
