The Suffolk bye-laws say:
Children under the age of 13 are not allowed to work.
Every young person who works must have a work permit.
If an office is attached to a factory which is covered by the
Factories Act, you are not allowed to be employed there.
A young person aged 13 and above may be employed in an office
subject to the days and hours below:

Advice:
- Check on safety procedures in the office
- Check that you are properly trained for the job
- Don't be tempted to work extra hours
- Don't be afraid to say NO if a job is unsafe
- If you are using a VDU make sure you are following the Health
and Safety regulations.
Notes:
Make sure your employer has completed a risk assessment.
A work permit may be withdrawn or amended at any time by
the Director of Education if it is established that the employment
is affecting your education.
Remember, you cannot work without a work permit.
