The Suffolk bye-laws say:
- children under the age of 13 are not allowed to work
- every young person who works must have a work permit
- you are not allowed to collect money.
A young person aged 13 and above may be employed doing a paper
round subject to the days and hours below:

Advice:
- Wear fluorescent clothing
- Keep on pavements or cycle tracks where appropriate
- Use pedestrian crossings
- Do not carry loads that are too heavy
- If cycling, wear a helmet and reflective clothing and make sure
you are using front and rear cycle lights
- Go on a cycle training course.
Notes:
Make sure your employer has completed a risk assessment.
A work permit may be withdrawn or amended at any time by
the Acting Director of Learning if it is established that the
employment is affecting your education.
Remember, you cannot work without a work
permit.
