Minority Ethnic and Traveller Achievement Team

Raising attainment

The Minority Ethnic and Traveller Achievement Team (METAT) provides training and advice to Suffolk schools on:
  • liaising with parents in education, and cultural diversity in the curriculum;
  • race equality;
  • raising attainment of minority ethnic pupils; and
  • the inclusion of English as an additional language (EAL) and traveller pupils.
We work with schools to promote race equality and raise the achievement of minority ethnic pupils.

Our team comprises:

  • Advisory Head Teacher for Race Equality and Achievement;
  • Advisory Teacher for EAL (primary schools);
  • Advisory Teacher for EAL (middle and secondary schools);
  • Team Leader for Traveller Education.
Our office is in Ipswich at the South Suffolk Professional Development Centre, where the multicultural resources and the dual language resource collection are available to subscribers of the Suffolk Advisory Information Service.
