Why vote?

When you vote, you are saying who you think should represent you and your community in decisions on important matters such as:

  • supporting jobs and businesses in Suffolk
  • protecting vulnerable children and adults
  • your children’s education and enabling people in Suffolk to learn and develop skills throughout life
  • protecting the environment and making Suffolk the Greenest County
  • the Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service and protecting consumers through Trading Standards
  • local libraries and museums

Register to vote

smallX To vote in the elections on 4 June, you must be registered on the Register of Electors for your area by 19 May.
smallX If you have not yet registered, or you have moved to another area of Suffolk without re-registering, please contact your district or borough council as they keep the Registers of Electors for each area.

How to vote

If you are on the Register of Electors, there are three ways of voting:

smallX In person at the Polling Station
You will be sent a polling card with details of where your polling station is and the times when when you can vote (usually between 7am and 10pm).
smallX By post
If you would like to vote by post, contact your district or borough council for an application form. The form must be returned by 19 May.
smallX By proxy
In some circumstances, you can allow someone to vote on your behalf. Contact your district or borough council for details.
