Key purpose

Promoting the county council internally and externally. 

Roles and responsibilities

We are responsible for managing, protecting and promoting the reputation of Suffolk County Council, working to create a better understanding between the county council, its public, staff and its key stakeholders. We:

  • lead on all council communications activity
  • protect and enhance the council's reputation
  • produce About Suffolk, the council's door-to-door newspaper
  • raise awareness of and explain plans and policies to our customers
  • manage internal communication, news about changes, our culture and values
  • manage events internally and extrnally
  • lead on all marketing activity and build strong brand loyalty by planning and designing marketing campaigns
  • help services achieve performance targets by advertising what we do, and
  • act as a franchise agency.

We communicate with nearly 700,000 residents across the county, 27,000 staff and hundreds of local, national and international organisations and partners.

Background

Based in Endeavour House, Ipswich, we are a small team with diverse specialist skills in media relations, stakeholder management, publicity campaigns and publishing.

Our primary day-to-day focus includes media and staff relations, dealing with staff and media news releases and upwards of 2000 enquiries from the local, national and international media.
