Respite care for older people

The purpose of Short Term Residential Care is to provide social and personal care in a residential care home setting,  to support Older people and enable them to remain living in their own home. 

The service also provides opportunities for the older person to learn / regain skills and to engage in a detailed assessment of their personal care needs if required.

This service also provides support to Carers by offering a residential care alternative for the person they are supporting / caring at home, whilst they take a break or go on holiday.

Where is it provided ?

Within Adult Care and Communities this service is provided by its Residential Care Homes for Older People and these are located throughout Suffolk.

What is provided?

Each Residential Home is registered with the Commission for Social Care Inspectorate  (CSCI)  to provide care and support services to customers needing care because of old age, health needs or mental fraility or dementia.

The Residential Home is inspected by CSCI Inspectors and internally by Suffolk County Council to ensure the Residential Home and Staff meet the registration standard and have the resources , environment and training requirements to meet the individuals assessed needs as identified by the Named Assessor.

How much will it cost?

Individuals will receive a Financial Assessment to determine the charges they will pay for this service and the Named Assessor il explain the process to during the Customers assessment of needs. Further information can be found in the Charges section of this web site.
