If you are a Suffolk resident and at least 18 years old we will
help you if you have a care need that significantly affects your
ability to live a normal life.
We can also help you if you are a caring for someone with care
needs. Not everyone who asks us for help can be given a service
because we must make sure we can help those in greatest need.
We will only be able to help you with things that are eligible
needs. An eligible need is if you need help in a key area of your
life such as:-
- keeping safe;
- maintaining independence;
- maintaining key relationships;
- personal care;
- staying physically and mentally well.
To make sure we can help those with greatest needs we also need
to check that the consequence of not meeting the need would have a
significant effect on your life.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility for services is determined by the degree of need
experienced by an individual and how it affects their everyday
life. Needs and their effect may be categorised within one of four
bands:-
- critical;
- substantial;
- moderate;
- low.
In Suffolk we can only provide services for needs that fall
within the Critical or Substantial bands.
If however your needs fall within the Moderate and Low bands you
will be offered information, advice and guidance as to where to
obtain help.
