4. Training and support for Link carers

All Link carers participate in a thorough assessment to establish their suitability. You will be offered the opportunity to attend a preparation course and appropriate training will be available, should you have further training needs.

You can develop your own skills through a range of training opportunities, which can lead to nationally recognised qualifications such as a BTEC or NVQ.

You will have your own Link support worker to help and advise when needed. As a Link carer you will be part of a team working together to support the disabled child and their family.

You will receive a regular newsletter to help you keep in touch with other Link carers and developments in the Link Scheme.

We aim to provide you with whatever you may need, including information and special equipment, to help you care for the Link child or young person.
