If at first it seems that there
are many steps to climb before you are approved to adopt, remember
that adoption is a life long commitment. You, and we, need to be
really sure that it is the right way forward for all
involved.
Below is a very brief outline of the process to becoming adopters.
The whole process can take up to 2 years.
The Process
Step 1: Come to an information session, meet
other prospective adopters and staff.
Step 2: Complete a personal questionnaire and
request an initial home visit.
Step 3: Attend a preparation course
Step 4: Work through your main assessment
including a detailed home study with your adoption social
worker.
Step 5: Attend a panel where your application
and assessment are discussed. A decision on your approval will
follow within 10 days.
