Adult Placement Schemes have an outstanding reputation to
provide a flexible, quality, person centred service for Adults who
prefer support within a family environment. There are over 130
established schemes in the UK.
Suffolk County Council, in partnership with Norfolk County
Council, have contracted Guideposts Trust to establish and manage
an Adult Placement Scheme to provide 'short break' or 'living'
accommodation for Adults with learning disabilities in family
homes. Guideposts Trust checks, trains and supports families,
called Adult Placement Carer and matches them with Adults (and
families) and monitors placements. The Scheme is registered and
monitored by the Commission for Social Care Inspectorate
(CSCI).
Although this service will initially be for Adults with learning
disabilities, it has the potential to be developed to support
Adults with physical disabilities; Adults with dementia; Older
people; Vulnerable single parents; Adults who use mental health
services; and people leaving hospital.
