The Suffolk Learning Disability Partnership Board (SLDPB) put together a Charter for people with learning disabilities and their family carers. This is called Big Messages. The Charter says what we intend to do to support people with learning disabilities and their family carers so that they can have, as far as possible, the lives that they want.
It is a joint charter between the Suffolk Learning Disability Partnership Board, NHS Suffolk, NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney and Suffolk County Council. The District and Borough Councils in Suffolk have also expressed their support.
What are the Big Messages about?
The Charter is based on what people in Suffolk told us was important, which is in a report called Opportunity, Choice and Support.
It is also based on Valuing People Now where the Government has said what is important.
Although we have made good progress in Suffolk in the last few years, there is still much to do.
