The aim of Assistive Technology/Telecare
The aim of Assistive Technology/Telecare is to help people to
live at home by reducing levels of risk, helping people feel safer
and more secure, enabling people with memory problems and
supporting relatives and Family Carers.
What is Assistive Technology/Telecare?
Assistive Technology/Telecare uses modern technology to
support individuals and Family Carers in their own homes.
There is a broad range of services and equipment
available that can be tailored to individual need such as
Falls Detectors, Low Temperature Sensors, Movement Sensors,
Eplilepsy Sensors and Carer Pager Alerts. These services can
be linked to a community alarm system, which is monitored at a
central centre.
Telecare equipment available includes pressure mats, smoke
detectors, flood and falls detectors, medication dispensers, bogus
caller buttons etc. A more comprehensive list of equipment can be

please contact Customer First or the provider for advice on their
services.
How do I access the service?
- For Individuals who are New Referrals or not open to a Case
Responsible Person - refer to Customer First on 0808 800 4005.
- For Individuals who are Open to a Case Responsible Person –
refer to the Area or Hospital based Team.

Community Alarm and Assistive Technology/Telecare
Services are also available for individuals and Family Carers to
purchase themselves; please contact the provider
direct.
