Many people feel that arranging things according to disability
labels is unhelpful because it only describes them in terms of
their disability and because it sets up unhelpful barriers. It can
be difficult for people who use services and family carers to
navigate their way through these barriers in order to get the help
they need.
Our aim is to work with everyone concerned to make a smooth
pathway for people.
Rather than always focusing on people as having disabilities, we
need to think about the things that they should expect as citizens.
We are committed to enabling people to live their lives in the way
that they want to. They should have easy access to the help they
need to do that, alongside others and as part of their community,
and ensuring that they are in control of things.
