Public information

It may surprise some people that Public Information is a "Right!"

Everyone has the right to good information, especially from people who serve them. Suffolk County Council serves everyone who lives in Suffolk in some way but many people receive much more support.

Some people receive long term support but many, many others only need help for a short period of time. However, and whenever, you are supported by Suffolk County Council you should expect and it is your right to demand good quality information in a format that you can understand.

That means you can ask for information in:

  • standard print;
  • large Print;
  • Braille;
  • audio tape;
  • a language other than English.
We know that for many people, support from Adult Care and Children and Young People comes at a time of crisis. You may not be well, you may be extremely worried about a friend or a relative or you may be facing an uncertain future. We aim to provide you with good quality information to help you understand your choices and what help we can offer.

We produce a number of general information leaflets and booklets about the services we provide and all of these are available on this web site. Many of these can be downloaded from this web site and many more are available to download from our online ordering leaflet web site.

You can choose to read these online or have them posted to you. If you would like to receive paper copies of leaflets you can order what you would like by visiting our online ordering web site.

Many of our policies and guidelines, including information we give to staff, is available for you to read on this web site. If you cannot find the information you want, you have the right to ask for this information and in most cases we have a duty to tell you.

We have a database of our policies and procedures, staff guidance and leaflets online and we are adding to this all the time.

The whole of the Care and Health area of the Suffolk County Council website is managed in the Customer Rights Team. Quite simply, this website is one of your rights!
