Parent Partnership Service

The Parent Partnership Service provides support and information for parents and carers of children who have a wide range of Special Educational Needs.

Our aim is to support parents and carers to enable them to play an active and valuable role in their children's education.

Working with Parents
Parent Partnership staff and volunteers work with parents and carers of children of all ages whatever their Special Educational Need. We are available to support parents and carers from the time that their child’s needs are first identified. We offer the following.

• Area Based Co-ordinators
• Information leaflets and guides about Special Educational Needs.
• One-to-one support for parents and carers, including help with educational reports and paperwork, through our Independent Parental Supporters
• Information sessions and support workshops for parents and carers
• A dedicated adviser for parents and carers with children at a PRU (Pupil Referral Unit) PRU Parent/Carer Support and Information - Judy Wild (PDF, 553Kb).
• We also work closely with School Preference Advisers who are available to discuss any concerns parents or carers may have about applying for a school place and the admissions process.
• Question of the term / Parent Consultation
• Signposting to ConSENsus (Word 193Kb) as appropriate.

Working with Schools
The Parent Partnership Service offers various training opportunities to staff and governors and others working in schools, children’s centres, and early years settings.
