Wade House is a residential care home providing personal care
to 30 people. It is located within the market town of Stowmarket.
There is a supermarket and other town centre shops within 1/2 mile
and a small bakery/sandwich shop opposite.
Wade House also has a small Day Centre on the premises. It is
managed by Tina Mills and is staffed separately. Tina's email is:

The Home comprises of two stories. The ground floor comprises of
two communal lounges and one other lounge, which is also used as a
dining room and breakfast bar. There is one lounge/dining area at
the top of the main staircase for those residents who prefer to
remain upstairs.
One lounge area has patio doors leading to a paved area and
flowerbeds.
There are five toilets along the ground floor corridor, which leads
to the special needs unit. This Ground floor unit has eight
single occupancy bedrooms, none of which have en-suite facilities.
Willow unit has its own lounge, dining area, kitchen, bathroom and
toilets and caters for older people with a diagnosis of
dementia.
All 30 bedrooms have washbasins, a bed, wardrobe, chest of
drawers, comfortable chair and commode if required. There are four
toilets, three bathrooms and one shower room. There is a large
bathroom located at each end of the building, one having a fitted
hydraulic chair hoist fitted within the bath. The shower room next
to it is a purpose built bath unit and shower for disabled people.
There is two remaining bathrooms at the other end of the home, one
of which can cater for those who do not need full assistance in
getting in and out of the bath and the second has both a Parker
bath and walk in shower within the one bathroom. All rooms are
fitted with a call system.
Wade House is a non-smoking environment. Residents may smoke in
the covered areas in the Willow Garden.
There are 22 beds for frail older people, one of which is a
short term care bed (previously known as respite care) One of the 8
beds located on our Dementia care unit is also a short-term care
bed. This bed is available to people who live in the community and
also customers who attend the Wade House special needs Day Care
service on Fridays.
The two short-term care beds are designed to support people who
live within the community, by providing both the carers and the
customers with a break.
There are approximately 40-50 members of staff who provide 24
hour care at Wade House.
Social Activities, Hobbies and Leisure
Interests
Residents are encouraged to partake in as much or as little as they
wish to. We ask new residents to talk about activities they enjoy
such as hobbies. Activities can range from group activities with
staff and an armchair fitness instructor who visits every second
week.
Residents are encouraged to maintain links with the community. This
includes involvement with relatives and friends.
For those residents who prefer not to go out, Wade House invites
various mobile shops that provide clothing and footwear.
Our in-house hairdressers visit twice a week. Chiropodist and
opticians also visit on a regular basis.
