Place Court is registered to provide residential care for men
and women who are over the age of 65 years and have been assessed
as requiring a residential care service to meet their needs.
The range of care needs the home is intended to meet includes
assistance with personal care such as washing and dressing,
assistance with meals should this be required and any general
support required by individual residents to assist them to enjoy
their lives to their maximum ability.
Nursing care is not provided by the staff of Place Court however
the Community Nurses are regular visitors and attend to residents
as and when needed.
Place Court is registered to provide care for a maximum of seven
people who have a diagnosis of dementia. One of these rooms
is used for short-term care to support people who live in the
community.
The main criteria for admission is that prospective residents
need to be considered in need of personal care which cannot safely
be provided within their own home. Hospital or community
social workers are responsible for undertaking the initial
assessment and making the referral to Place Court. Once
received either the home’s manager or senior team leader will visit
the person and discuss Place Court, the prospective resident’s
needs and expectations. An invitation to spend a day at Place
Court prior to admission is offered. If it is considered that
the services available at Place Court can meet the identified needs
of the individual then a vacancy is offered.
All residents have a written care plan which is devised with
their assistance. Part of this care plan identifies hobbies
and leisure interests. Care staff have delegated
responsibility for key residents. Where possible staff will
encourage and assist residents with their hobbies and will take
opportunities to create social activities.
Residents of Place Court have their own personal bedroom with
en-suite facilities.
The home is divided into four “houses” each with communal lounge
dining areas, should residents wish to take their meals in their
bedroom this will be arranged.
There is a large entertainments room at Place Court which is
used for parties and social events. It is also available for
use by families should they wish to a private party for their
relative.
A monthly church service is conducted by members of the
Salvation Army. Local ministers attend individually to
residents should there be anyone who wishes to take Holy
Communion.
Arrangements can be made for residents to attend a place of
worship of their own choice in the area where possible.
There are no formal visiting times however visitors are
respectfully asked to avoid mealtimes.
